Works Progress Administration Documented Graves Chapel
This report describing a church in Page County is a part of the Virginia Works Progress Administration's Historical Inventory Project, one of many New Deal programs designed to provide work to unemployed Americans. The project strove to inventory the vernacular architecture and history of everyday buildings built before 1860: homes, workplaces, churches, and public buildings. Many reports, such as this one, included photographs of the building, in some cases providing the only visual record for structures that no longer exist. Surveyors also wrote reports on cemeteries, antiques, and families, and included transcripts of land grants, wills, deeds, diaries, and correspondence.
