The Commonwealth of Virginia To the Sheriff of Campbell County, Greeting: you are hereby commanded to summon John Rosser

To appear before the judge of our circuit superior court of law and chancery for the county of campbell at the courthouse, in the said county, on the 1st monday in December next to answer a bill exhibited against him & another in the said court by German Jordan.

And unless he shall answer the said bill within four months thereafter, the court will take the same for confessed, and decree accordingly-and this he shall in no wise omit, under the penalty of 100[pounds]. And have then there this writ. Witness, John D Alexander, clerk of our said court, at the courthouse in said county the 9th day of October 1840 and in the 65 year of the commonwealth. Jno. D.
