Abstract

Samuel Brown, born in 1783, was a successful merchant of Winchester, VA. He was also an active member of the Hopewell Friends Society. On February12, 1805, he married Hannah Matthews of Baltimore, MD and had two daughters, Mary and Sarah. Brown died on August10, 1852 and is buried in Hopewell Graveyard in Clearbrook, VA.
