CITY OF RICHMOND, TO WIT: BE IT REMEMBERED, That on the 27th day of August eighteen hundred and sixty three Joseph W. Skinner personally appeared before me Richd. D. Sanxay Mayor of the City of the Richmond aforesaid, in said City, and within the jurisdiction of the Hustings Court of said City, acknowledged himself, to be indebted to the Commonwealth of Virginia, in the sum of three hundred dollars, lawful money, to be levied of his goods and chattels, lands and tenements respectively, to the use of the Commonwealth.
The Condition of this Recognizance is such, that if the above bound Joseph W. Skinner, shall personally appear before the Justices of the City of Richmond aforesaid, on the 14th day of September, eighteen hundred and sixty three, at a Court by them to be holden, in and for said City, in the City Hall of said City, in said City, for the trial of Nancy a slave the property of Racheal Burriss charged with felony and do then and there, in behalf of said Commonwealth, give such evidence as each of them knoweth, concerning the said offence, with which the said Nancy stands charged, and do not depart without leave of said Court, then this recognizance to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue. Taken and acknowledged before me, in said City, and within the jurisdiction aforesaid, the day and year first above written. Richd. D. Sanxay J.P.
