I do hereby Certify that I formerly owned the within named Betsy and that she was a most valuable servant and at the urgent solicitation of her husband James Boswell (about the year 1821) I sold her to him for a sum much less than she was worth, that she is now about fifty years of age, and resides in the town of Harrisonburg with her said Husband and has their lived ever since she was sold as aforesaid, and so fair [far] as have come within my Knowledge, has conducted hereself with the strictest propriety, it is therefore my sincere wish, and the wish of my family that the prayer of her petition may be Granted.
