Rural Route 1, Box 51, Franklin, Va. Oct. 16, '15. Dear Mrs. Townsend: I was very glad to receive a letter from you yesterday and to know that you will really speak at Courtland on Monday. The next thing I did was to walk to the nearest neighbor's to try to get some one to take me to Courtland to meet you, though I don't know where or when you are to speak. Courtland is not so far from here as Franklin, so they say, - not more than 7 or 8 miles.
