gradually stimulate interest in the forward movement, and then to have Miss [Mary] Johnston, Mrs. Valentine and Mrs. Lewis to lecture and organize a League here in the Fall. It would be best to set a permanent date, if convenient to Miss Johnston, and have everything conform to that date. It may be possible to have a general rally by inviting the Alexandria League, and by asking prominent men - such as Senator Works and Prof. Wiley - and several of the Washington women who belong to the National League.
