At a court continued and held for Prince William County the 7th: day of March 1770. Present Henry Lee Henry Peyton Daniel Payne Thomas Lawson and William Carre} gentlemen justices William Alexander Jesse Ewell William Cocke and Thomas Montgomerie gentlemen are nominated by the court and recommended to his excellency the governour as proper persons to serve as justices of the peace for this county. Agreed to be added Copy Test John Graham C Cur William Alexander resides about sixteen miles from the court house Jessee Ewell resides six miles from the court house and William Cocke and Thomas Montgomerie reside in the town of Dumfries in which said town the court house is situated.
