E A Lawford, an alien, native of Great Britian, this day applied to the court to be admitted a citizen of the United States of America; whereupon the said E A Lawford moved that he has resided in the United States more than five years & that he came to the United States before he was 18 years old declared on oath, in open court, that is was bona fide his intention to of the United States, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign prince, potentate, state or sovereignty whatsoever, and particularly to Edward the VII King of Great Britan and it being proven to the satisfaction of the court that the said E A Lawford has resided in the said United States for the continued term of five years past at least, and within the State of Virginia for one year last past at least, and during that time he has behaved as a man of good moral character, attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same; he, the said E A Lawford declared on oath in open court, that he will support the Constitution of the United States, and that he doth absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign prince, potentate, state or sovereignty whatever, and particularly to Edward VII King of Great Britain of whom he is a subject; and thereupon the said E A Lawford is admitted a citizen of the United States.
