Town of Petersburg to wit Circuit Superior Court of Law & Chancey for the said Town Phebe alias Ibby or Ebby sometimes called Phebe Major, a pauper, complains of Hartwell Clanton in custody etc for that the said Hartwell Clanton on the day of in the year of our Lord at the town of Petersburg, with force & arms, to wit with swords, staves & knives on her the said Phebe alias Ibby or Ebby did make an assault, and her the said Phebe alias Ibby or Ebby did then & there beat, wound, ill treat & imprison, and her the said Phebe alias Ibby or Ebby there in prison without any reasonable cause & contrary to law a long time to wit "[blank]" did detain, and other outrages on her then and there committed against the peace of the commonwealth and to the damage of the said Phebe, alias Ibby or Ebby of fifteen hundred dollars.
