And further saith, that the presant Dept is the widow of the sd Andrew Baker Decd & had knowledge of the said Aaron's claim to freedom, before she purchased him of the said Andrew Baker's Estate & this Deponant further saith, this said Dept. said she believed this said Aaron had a just claim to his freedom she believing this said Aaron was entitled to his freedom from what his Master had done to make it so - & further saith not ___ Wm H. Cary The forgoing Deposition was taken before us at Prince Edward Courthouse this 22d. day of November in presence and by consent of Richd N Venable Attorney for Plt & Edward Booker Attorney for Defts. also the Deposition of Elliott Baker hereafter mentioned Saml. Carter Aug't Watson

and Elliott Baker a witness in the same cause being sworn saith that he had conversation with Andrew Baker in his lifetime respecting Aaron but does not remember the express words, but the Deponant understood from the said Baker now decd. that he had freed said Aaron the Plt & if he was like to do any good for himself, & said Baker had a piece of land that suited he would give it to him, but if he gave him land he would have to give the rest land also which would not do. The above conversation happened better than 12 months before the Death of said Baker as well as this Deponant remembers. Elliott Baker
