The Commonwealth of Virginia, to any two Justices of the peace In the county of Anson in the state of North Carolina

Greeting: Know you that we trusting to your fidelity and circumspection, do require you, that at such times and places as you shall appoint, you call and cause to come before you. Doctor William Mendenhall, Judith Lowry, Judith Boggan William Vaughn, William Lowry, Elizabeth Lowry, Susanna [Bywer?], & Jason Meadow, witness on behalf of Ruth & her children in a certain matter of controversy in our Superior court of Montgomery county depending between the said Ruth & her children Plts. and James Sallust Deft and him distinctly, plainly and without delay fend and certify the fame, enclosed together with this writing.
