We find the plt was imported into this State of Virginia from Carolina by one Tho. Jones in the year 1781--that she was then about 9 years old. We find that since that time she has born seven children Viz David Cecilia Billy Danl. Rachel Alex & Polly who are all now living & held as slaves by the Deft. We do not find that Tho Jones ever took the oath prescribed by the act of 1778 entitled an Act for preventing the further importation of Slaves We find that this said Jones in the year 1787 became indebted to the Deft. J. Hook who levied an attachment on sundry property of the said Jones and among the other articles taken in virtue of the said attachment the plt Nanny then 16 years old & her child David then about 3 months old were Seized & sold together with the other articles of property for the sum of 8.19 [illegible] & that the deft. Hook bought her & her child & the other property for that sum. We find that Jones while the plt Nanny was in his possession & before he became indebted to the Deft. Hook acknowledged her to be the child of a White Woman, and that she was a bound girl, that previous to the plt being seized by the Defts. attachment, Jones gave up to her a paper called her indentures & set her at liberty from further service We find the Pltffs are free persons.
