in danger of being expired to the penalties of the act of assembly forbidding free negroes to remain in this State - unless the Court will take cognizance of their case - and protect them in the meantime - while the proper accounts are being taken, and proper steps to cause their removal to some free estate - in accordance with the wish & intent of their late master's will - Being without remedy at Law &c. Your Petitioners pray that the said Richard Perkins late Sheriff and as such admr. of Jesse Wood Deceased, may be made a party Defendant to this petition and compelled to answer the same - and may it please the Court to cause the accounts of said admr. to be properly settled - and pending this proceeding to authorize him to provide for the necessary wants of your Petitioners - and at a proper time cause your Petitioners to be removed from this State to some free state, according to the true intent of the said will - giving them their property in such form as may be right & best calculated to advance their real interests - and may is please the Court to protect your Petitioners from the penalties of the act of assembly aforesaid, pending this proceeding - and grant your Petitioners general aid & relief in the premises - And as in duty bound &c.
