The Commonwealth of Virginia, To the Sheriff of Powhatan County, Greeting: We command you to summon Jerman L. Stratton, Wm: D. Taylor, and Joe Logan, a free man of Color, to appear before the Judge of our Circuit Court for the County of Powhatan, at the Rules to be holden in the Clerk's Office of the said Circuit Court, on the first Monday in January next, to answer a bill in Chancery, exhibited against them in our said Court, by Richard B. Mumford: And this they shall in no wise omit, under the penalty of £100 each: And have then there this writ. Witness, William S. Dance, Clerk of said Circuit Court, at the Courthouse of the County of Powhatan aforesaid, this 18th day of December 1854, in the 79th year of our Independence. Wm: S: Dance C.
