I John Michael Scherer make the following report of myself to the County Court of Henrico, in the State of Virginia, that is to say, I report that I was born at Hessia Darmstadt, in Germany on the 30th day of March 1809, being now in the 29" year of my age, that I am a subject of Lewis the third grand Duke of Hessia Darmstadt owing allegiance to that monarch, and none other, that I migrated from Germany to the United States in the year of 1830 and that I arrived in Richmond, Virginia on the 8" day of July 1834, and that I intend to settle myself in the County of Henrico, in the State of Virginia, one of the United States. Given under my hand the 1st. day of November 1838.
