STATE OF VIRGINIA. At a Court held for Norfolk County the 23rd day of May 1855 John Muligan an alien, who has lately arrived in the United States, and is desirous of being naturalized a citizen thereof, this day appeared in Court, and in pursuance of the Act of Congress made a report of himself, which report is in the following words, to-wit: I, John Muligan in order to become a citizen of the United States, make the following report of myself to the County Court of Norfolk County I report that I was born in Roscommen County Ireland in the year 1832 being now in the 23rd year of my age; that I am a subject of Victoria, Queen of Great Britain owing allegiance to that monarch, and none other; that I migrated from Ireland to the United States in the year 1854, and that I intend to settle myself in the Town of Portsmouth, in the State of Virginia, one of the United States. Given under my hand this 21st day of May, 1855[.] John Muligan his X mark And the said John Muligan declares on oath that it is bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Soveignty whatever, and particularly to Victoria, Queen of G.
