[surname is spelled both Danahy and Donahy] Virginia to wit At a monthly term of the Court of Hustings for the city of Lynchburg held in and for said city at the Courthouse thereof on Monday to this "[blank]" day of July 1854 and in the 78th year of the Commonwealth. Daniel Danahy, an alien who has lately arrived in the United States and is desirous of being naturalized a citizen thereof this day appeared in court and upon oath made a report of himself which report is in the following word. Viz "I, Daniel Danahy make the following report of myself to the Court of Hustings for the City of Lynchburg in the State of Virginia that is to say. I report that I was born in the county of Kerry in Ireland in the Kingdom of Great Britain on the "[blank]" day "[blank]" in the year 1824, being now in the 30th year of my age, that I am a subject of the Queen of Great Britain owing allegiance to that Monarch and none other that I migrated from Ireland to the United States in the year 1851. That it is bona fide my intention to become a citizen of the United States and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate State or Sovereignty, whatever and particularly to Queen Victoria, that I intend to settle myself in the City of Lynchburg in the State of Virginia one of the United States.
