State of Virginia, Norfolk County To wit: At a Court held of on Norfolk County the 13th.. Nov'r 1852 Barney McWinos and alien who has lately arrived in the United States and is desirous of being naturalized a citizen thereof this day appeared in court and in pursuance of the act of Congress, made a report of himself, which report is in the following words to towit: I Barney McWinos in order to become a citizen of the United States, made the following report of myself. I report that I was born in the County of Galway in Ireland, on the 8th June 1830 being now in the 22nd year of his age, that I am a subject of Victoria I Queen of Great Britain, owing allegiance to that Monarch and none other that I emigrated from Ireland to the United States in the year 1848 that I intend to settle myself in the town of Portsmouth in the State of Virginia one of the United States. Given under my hand this 15 day of Nov 1852. Barney McWinos and the said Barney McWinos declared on oath that it is bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States and to renounce forever all allegiances and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty whatsoever, and particularly to Victoria the first Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
