State of Virginia At a Court held for Norfolk County the 24th day of June, 1854. Edward Jones an alien, who has lately arrived in the United States, and is desirous of being naturalized a citizen thereof, this day appeared in Court and in pursuance of the Act of Congress made a report of himself, which report is in the following words, to-wit: I, Edward Jones in order to become a citizen of the United States, make the following report of myself in the County Court of Norfolk County State of Va. I report that I was in Liverpool in the Kingdom of Great Britain on the 20 day Nov AD 1809 being now in the 45th year of my age; that I am a subject of the Queen of Great Britain owing allegiance to that monarch and none other; that I migrated from Great Britain to the United States in the year 1825, and that I intend to settle myself in the Town of Portsmouth, in the State of Virginia, one of the United States. Given under my hand this 24th day of June, 1854. And the said Edward Jones declares on oath that it is bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate, State, or Sovereignty whatever, and particularly to Queen Victoria the 1st, Queen of Great Britain Copy Teste Author Emmerson cc
