State of Virginia. At a Court held for Norfolk County the 18th day of October, 1852 Joseph Long and alien, who has lately arrived in the United States, and is desirous of being naturalized a citizen thereof, this day appeared in Court, and in pursuance of the Act of Congress made a report of himself, which report is in the following words, to wit: I Joseph Long in order to become a citizen of the United States, make the following report of myself to the Court of Norfolk County. I report that I was born in the Kingdom of Ireland, County of Donegal on the 26th of July 1828 being now in the 25th year of my age; that I am a subject of Victoria, Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain, Ireland, & Scotland owing allegiance to that monarch, and none other; that I migrated from said Kingdom to the United States in the year 1847, and that I intend to settle myself in the Town of Portsmouth, in the State of Virginia, one of the United States. Given under my hand this 17th day of October, 1852. Joseph Long And the said Joseph Long declares on oath that it is bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Soveignty whatever, and particularly to Victoria, Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain, Ireland, & Scotland.
