[This reminds me of the time that my German great grandfather was inducted into the Yankee army and was renamed by the sergeant. The surname here appears to be spelled Muller mit ein umlaut and I'm not certain about the the last two letters]


I, Daniel Miller in order to become a citizen of the United States, make the following report of myself to the county court of Norfolk co. I report that I was born in Hessen Darmstead in the year 1823 being now in the 32nd year of my age; that I am a subject of Ludwig 3rd, King of that county in Germany owing allegiance to that monarch, and none other; that I migrated from Germany to the United States in the year 1848, and that I intend to settle myself in the town of Portsmouth, in the State of Virginia, one of the United States.
