State of Virginia, Norfolk County To wit: at a court held for Norfolk County on the 15 of Nov., 1852 Patrick McDonough an alien who has lately arrived in the United States and desirous of being Naturalized a citizen thereof this day appeared in court and in pursuance of the act of Congress made a report of himself, which report is in the followings words_ I Patrick McDonough in order to become a citizen of the United States make the following report of myself. I report that I was born in the County of Galway in Ireland, I was born on the 14th March 1827 being in the 26 year of my age that I am a subject of Victoria I Queen of Great Britain, owing allegiance to that Monarch and non other, that I emigrated from Ireland on the 1st of May 1847, that I intend to settle in the Town of Portsmouth State of Virginia one of the United States. Given under my hand this 15 day of November 1852. Patrick McDonough and the said Patrick McDonough declared an oath that it is bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate State or sovereignty whatever and particularly to Victoria the first Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland Copy Teste Arthur Emmerson c.c.
