I John Kelly in order to become a citizen of the U. S. do make the following report of myself to the County Court of Norfolk Court. I report that I was born in the County of Wexford Ireland in the year 1829 being now in the 24th year of my age; that I am a subject of Victoria 1st Queen of Great Britain & Ireland owing allegiance to that monarch & none other, that I migrated to the U.S. in the year 1848 & that I intend to settle myself in the town of Portsmouth in the State of Va. one of the United States. Given under my hand this 16th day of May in the year 1853. John Kelly x his mark
