At a court held for Norfolk County the 21st day of May 1839

Jacob Sheiffer a native of Germany who has migrated into this state, this day in open court gave satisfactory proof by his own oath that he intends to reside therein and also took the legal oath for giving assurance of fidelity to the Commonwealth in order to entitle himself to certain rights priviledges and advantages of a citizen which are allowed when taking the said oath by an act of the general assembly of Virginia.
