I, John Lehmann now of Portsmouth make to the court of Norfolk County the following report of myself in order to become a citizen of the U.S. - viz - That I was born in Aarau in Switzerland in 1797 the 25 of June, that I am now in the 36th year of my age - I left Havre De Grace [France] in May 1823 in the ship Howard & arrived at the City of New York on the 10th of June 1823, & came to Portsmouth in June 1827 where I have resided ever - I am a stone cutter or mason by trade - I am a citizen of the Republic of Switzerland and it is my intention to reside in this town of Portsmouth.
