John Butten now of Gosport makes to the Court of Norfolk County the following report of himself in order to become a citizen of the U. S. - viz - That he was born in Pertshire in Scotland on the 22nd of June 1802 - That he left Greenock in the Brig [Corber?] on the 8th of August 1827 & arrived at Halifax Nova Scotia about the 10th of September 1827 - & from Halifax he came to New York in the month of November, and arrived in Portsmouth in 1830 where he has continued to reside ever since - He is a subject of the King of Great Britain-is now in the 31st year of his age & is a stone cutter by trade and intends to reside in this County May 20th 1833 John Butten
