At a Court held for Norfolk County on the 17th day of October 1860 George Maxwell an alien who has lately arrived in the U.S. and is desirous of being naturalized a citizen thereof. This day appeared in Court and in pursuance of the act of Congress (which report is in the words following here insert) and the said George Maxwell declared an oath that it is bona fide his intentions to become a citizen of the United States and to renounce and abjure all allegiances & fidelity to every foreign prince, potentate, State, or sovereignty whatever, and particularly to Victoria Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. State of Virginia County of Norfolk } ss I, J. P. Hodges, Clerk of the County Court of said County do hereby certify that the above and foregoing is a true copy of the record made and entered in the matter of the application of George Maxwell to the admitted a citizen of the United States.
