STATE OF VIRGINIA. AT a Court held for Norfolk County the 21st day of December, 1857 Alexander Leyburn an alien, who has lately arrived in the United States, and is desirous of being naturalized a citizen thereof, this day appeared in Court, and in pursuance of the Act of Congress made a report of himself, which report is in the following words, to-wit: I, Alexander Leyburn in order to become a citizen of the United States, make the following report of myself to the County Court of Norfolk County I report that I was born in Dundee in Scotland in the Kingdom of Great Britain on the 25 August 1822 being now in the 36th year of my age; that I am a subject of Victoria Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland owing allegiance to that monarch, and none other; that I migrated from London to the United States in the year 1854, and that I intend to settle myself in the Town of Portsmouth, in the State of Virginia, one of the United States. Given under my hand this 21st day of December, 1857 Alexander Leyburn And the said Alexander Leyburn declares on oath that it is bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any Prince, Potentate, State or Soveignty whatever, and particularly to Victoria Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland Copy Teste Arthur Emmerson C.C.
