To the Honble the Judges of the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia sitting for the County of Alexandria. The petition of Robert King of the City of Washington respectfully represents that he was born in England and arrived in the United States of America in the year 1797 and continued to reside therein till the year 1802 (about July) at which time he went to England for certain family purposes when he remained about 3 months and then returned to the United States, and hath continued to reside in the United States from the year 1803 to the present time that previous to his leaving his county he had acquired real estate and received an appointment in the Office of the Commissioners of the City of Washington under which appointment he continued to act on his return to the United States, that he is attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same, and that he is now about 33 years of age and Surveyor of the city of Washington. Your petitioner therefore prays to admitted to become a Citizen of the United States arguably to the laws in such case provided. County of York
