United States District of Columbia to wit I George Deneale, Clerk of the United States Circuit Court of the District of Columbia for the County of Alexandria do hereby Certify that At a Court Continued & held for the County and District aforesaid the Twelfth day of August In the year of our Lord Eighteen Hundred & Nine, John Hipesly Crease came into Court and made oath that it is Bona fide his Intention to become a Citizen of the United States of America and to renounce forever all Allegiance and fidelity to any Foreign, Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever and Particularly by name the Sovereignty of the King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland which is ordered to be recorded & Certified.
