District of Columbia County of Washington to wit. On this 29th day of May 1840 personally appeared before the subscriber, a Justice of the peace for the said County John Sheahan and Dennis McInerny citizens of the United States, and made oath in due form of law that Edward Connery hath resided within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States five years last past, without being absent therefrom in that time, and one year last past in the County of Washington, district of Columbia-and that during the whole of the said time, he hath behaved as a man of good moral character attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order & happiness of the same.
