Circuit Court District of Columbia County of Washington September Term 1809. "Hugh Carolin is a resident of Alexandria in the District of Columbia, aged about twenty two years, a carpenter, from Ireland, made oath, that it was bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States, and to renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereighty whatsoever, and particularly to the king of Great Britain, to whom he was formerly a subject." I certify that the above is true taken and copied from minutes of proceedings of the said Court. In testimony whereof I here to put my hand affix the Seal of the said Court the 8th day of October Anno Domini 1809 & in the thirty fourth year of American Independence. Wm Brent Clk W.C.
