Philip Schaarmann a native of the Village of Lampartheim, by Worms in the dominions of the Grand Duke of Hesse Darmsdate [Darmstadt] one of the States of Germanic Confederation, and owing allegiance to Louis the Third reigning Duke of Hesse Darmsdate and none other, and residing in the County of Rockingham in the State of Virginia, this day appeared in open court and made a declaration of his bona fide intention to become a citizen of the United States in these words: I Philip Schaarmann, a native of the VIllage of Lampertheim by Worms in the dominions of the Grand Duke of Hesse Darmsdadt in the twenty first year of my age and now and lately owing allegiance to Louis the Third, reigning Duke of Hesse Darmsdadt, do hereby declare that it is bona fide my intention to become a citizen of the United States, and renounce for ever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince potentate, state or sovereignty whatever, and particularly renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to the said Louis the Third, Grand Duke of Hesse Darmsdadt.
