1176 James Cosby pays to Janet Cosby's account 7 pounds 10 shillings for the use of a slave named James for 2 years. This was entered during court held Oct 17, 1785. p. 58 due John Cosby orphan of James Cosby desc. July 8, 1788: "One gal. of rum for the settlers. 1788 by rent of the plantation 5 pounds. 1790 by ditto for ditto." Court held Feb. 21 1791. Robert Patrick is the guardian.

This court mainly delt [dealt] with Yorktown cases. There were no Wmsburg cases listed. No Cosbys are listed until the very end when on P. 73 John Cosby's estate vs Thomas Nelson desc. estate id delayed until the next Quarter. However, nothing about this case is listed in the next quarter. Wm Nelson is the adm. for Thomas and Thomas Severman is John Cosby's.

May 18, 1741 and p. 34 June 15, 1741 Samuel Cosby's custodial bond for the 4 Hyde orphans. I copied these. p. 20 Samuel Cosby's Guardian and custodian bond for the four Hyde orphans. "Samuel Cosby this day in court said unto and acknowledged a bond....???,,,Gabriel Maupin and James Cosby his...??...for his cau? of??? ??? of John Mary and Judith Hyde the orphans of Smauel [Samuel] Hyde and by ??? ??? which bond is ordered to be recorded." p. 34 June 15, 1741 "Know all men by these presents that we Samuel Cosby Gabriel Maupin and James Cosby are held and firmly bound unto the worshipful justices of York county in the sum of ??? hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain the which payment well and freely to be made ? found
