Abstract
Samuel H. Yonge, a renowned engineer in the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, was born 27 January 1850 in Savannah, Georgia, the son of George and Mary Humphreys Yonge. He married Charlotte Theresa Behrens in 1873 in Savannah, Georgia and died 11 March 1935. He had two sons Allen M. and William and three daughters Catherine H. Easter, Charlotte Yonge Stringfellow, and Letitia Yonge Hayne. Samuel H. Yonge was responsible for engineering projects in the Williamsburg and Jamestown area, including the construction of an updated seawall along Jamestown's James River waterline.
