Abstract

Contains a deposition of Guy Smith regarding the accounts & conduct of William Mead, former sheriff of Bedford County. According to Smith, Mead defaulted a sum of twenty thousand pounds of tobacco and returned a false report of the number of insolvents. The deposition was sworn before Robert Ewing, John Patrick, Robert Cowan, Gross Scruggs, Charles Lynch, & James Callaway.
