Abstract

Contains a letter of Thomas Avent regarding intelligence received from the Saponi Indians about the plans of the Cotober [Catawba] Indians to carry their wives & children over the Roanoke River and drive the white people & negroes as far as the James River if Capt. Tom was hanged. Avent also states that if Pyrah was hanged, Tony Mack & the Cotobers would take revenge on the English.
