Abstract

Contains instructions of [King George I] by Lieutenant Governor Alexander Spotswood communicated to [James] Roscow, Receiver General, that books of accounts be kept of all receipts & payments of His Majesty's revenues arising within the colony. Spotwood also writes that Roscow is to demand of Nathaniel Harrison, Deputy Receiver General under William Byrd, that all books of revenue be placed into Roscow's custody. In addition, Roscow is instructed to demand the books of quit rents, the book of escheated lands, the book of port duties, the book of fines & forfeitures, etc.
