Report of the Committee for Propositions and Grievances, 1710.
Contains a report of the Committee for Propositions & Grievances regarding public debts payable in tobacco including quit rents, parish levies, & clerk's fees. The report asks for the appointment of one or more persons by the governor to receive all debts in each parish. J. Peyton, Clerk of the Committee, writes in the report that it is the opinion of the Committee that the act concerning the collection of the public & county levies be repealed. Clayton also writes that there should be a repeal of the act for the better support & maintenance of the clergy and an act for improving the staple of tobacco & for regulating the size of tobacco hogsheads.
