Abstract

Contains a petition of Francis Ballard of Elizabeth City County to the Speaker & Burgesses contesting the return of the election of William Armistead as burgess by Anthony Armistead, sheriff. According to Ballard, Armistead refused to administer the oath to electors and refused to admit several freeholders to vote for petitioner.
